Sometimes the road gets tough I don't know why

Afternoon World,

I'm afraid I've been a bit absent lately. Work has been hard to say the very least. I started this blog as a way to escape. Maybe one day I'll post what I've had to endure these last few years. But not today. Today I choose to be happy, to blog about something happy and to stay happy come Monday morning.

We started painting our lounge and dining area today. I won't post any photos of it just yet, I'll keep you all in suspense just now. Let's just say the lime green is diminishing rather quickly.

We've just come back from a lovely walk along the coast with our furbaby.

My new favourite pic.

Don't let this cute furry face fool you. He's trouble!

I've never really been one to just sit around and listen to music. Mind you I usually listen to heavy metal while I'm angrily cleaning or pounding it out on the treadmill. However I've started to just sit back, relax and listen to some tunes which surprisingly as let me block out the rest of the world, almost like a form of meditation. Lana Del Rey and Florence have been on the top of my list but I've also started listening to this girl:

Charli xcx. Love her style. Go check out her new single on youtube here.

More later.

A hairy adventure

Last week I headed over to my favorite hairdresser to touch up my foils. I always book a Thursday night appointment as it is slightly out of my way to get to but definitely worth it. At the end of a long day it is the perfect pampering session and I always feel so good afterwards. The visit always starts off with a latte and a small cake. This time it was a delicious apple and berry slice which was devine. Then it's time for a relaxing scalp massage before my foil and cut. Ahhhhh.. When this blog gets more popular I'll definitely give them a shout out.

This visit was especially good as I was fortunate enough (and met the required minimum) to receive a showbag! It was a pretty good haul let me tell you.

Here's a photo of what was included as well as two products I purchased on the night.

The bag included a sample of Moroccan Oil, evo the therapist shampoo, evo self indulgence body creme and two samples of evo mane prescription protein treatment. My purchases were evo normal persons shampoo and matrix silver shampoo to keep the yellow tones out of my lovely blonde foils.

I'm really starting to trust evo as a brand. It's reasonably priced and the products smell great. So far they're working well in my hair. The self indulgence body creme I acquired is no different, it smells fab and is the perfect all over body moisturiser for these winter months.

I recently purchased Moroccan Oil volumising shampoo and conditioner from an online store and I was very disappointed as it left an oily residue on my scalp that I'm finding really hard to get rid of. My hairdresser seems to think it may have been a fake as she uses Moroccan Oil shampoo and conditioner in my hair every visit and it's never left a residue. So, back to the drawing board and I'm now using evo normal persons shampoo to get my scalp back to normal.
It appears to have reduced the oil on my scalp a little bit, but I guess it will take a while to get my hair back to normal. Gah, hair issues.

On another note I'm absolutely in love with the evo bag all of my goodies came in.

Haha story of my life.

This week I'll be posting some graphic design projects. Stay tuned.

How does your garden grow...

The last couple of weekends have proven to be quite productive around the house. Besides cleaning, which always seems to take up a big chunk of my spare weekend time, I've started a vegetable garden. I've never been successful in getting anything to grow (even herbs) so this will prove interesting. Then again, I've never had a garden to plant anything in either.

This little guy here is an onion. After finding an onion sprouting in the bottom of the cupboard, I decided to plant it to see how it would go. After spending two weeks in a pot the little guy sprouted quite quickly so I decided to move him into his new home. At the moment he doesn't seem to be doing too well, but I did find a couple of new shoots today so fingers crossed. I've also planted carrots and in the next few weeks will attempt snow peas and spinach. That green foliage you see at the back is mint. Damn stuff has taken over the whole garden. Not my doing.

This beautiful flower is from a tree at the front of our yard. I'm not sure what it's called but we never have to water it, which is fine by me.

Saturday morning I was in the mood for an epic 1000 kcal workout so the husband and I decided to go for a morning climb up Mt Tibrogargan. It took us 1 hr up and another 45 mins down but we've done it much quicker before. Will have to try and beat our time next trip.

Such a rewarding view at the top. Makes the sweat and possibility of dying if you freak out while climbing worth it.

After our morning climb we headed down south to the inlaws who have a bit of land to go around. 47 acres to be exact. Much wine, cheese and toasted marshmellows to be had.

All in all a good weekend. Bring on the next couple of weeks where I will be working 14 days straight.

Love a statement necklace

I was feeling rather plain before I left the house this morning. But a good statement necklace fixes all :)

Home Sweet Home

I am currently sitting in one of the two sunny patches that have gratefully managed to enter the house. And it's not because there are no curtains open. On the contrary I have every curtain pulled and every door open in the hope that more light will find it's way in. We are yet to experience a summer in this house so I'm reluctant to pull down any trees that shade the house in case it ends up being a hot box.

In the meantime I have my office, which I'm happy to say is the sunniest room in the house. It's also my favourite room, mostly because it houses some of my favourite things- most of which are actually from our wedding day.

My friend drew this cartoon of the husband and I. I absolutely love it, she so's talented.

These love cubes are left over favours from our wedding and housed different flavours of Lindt chocolates.

I had these fake hippeastrums (well the closest I could find to hippies anyway) on the pews in the church on our wedding day as a tribute to my late mother in-law.

I absolutely love Glasshouse Candles. They smell amazing. Definitely worth the money. This one was actually a gift from my bestie.

Happy Friday everyone.

The jolly first post

Hello Blogland,

After procrastinating and much deliberation I'm excited to finally write my first post. This blog will feature my daily inspiration, design ideas and hopefully soon my very first invitation range.

After recently getting married, buying a house and a furbaby, I am at a stage in my life where I should be completely and utterly happy. Today is the day where I will no longer let work get me down.

Five things that have made me happy today:

1.   Florence and the Machine playlist on Grooveshark

Grooveshark is a free online music streaming site which is perfect for me as I'm notorious for not charging my gadgets. You can search by song, album or artist and cue up as many songs as you like. Head over there if you feel like listening to something different everyday.

2.  Crossing things off my to-do list

I have a very stressful job with many deadlines and new projects that pop up everyday, so a daily to-do list is a must for me at work. I've found that this has really helped with my procrastinating thus keeping my stress levels down.

3.  Our furbaby Genji

Loving a doggie (or any pet for that matter) helps keeps stress levels down. There's nothing better than coming home to this little guy after a long day.

4.  Red lips

So much maintenance but I just love it!! I'm wearing Orlane Rouge Extraordinaire #05.

5.  Pictures of Nepal

We’re planning a two week trek here next year. I can't wait! This is the ideal holiday for the husband and I as we hate laying around.

Keep on smiling :)
